AM I A FEMINIST?

feminist police 2

You may have seen a couple of Davina McCall quotes floating around if you follow the UK media. Basically she is a TV presenter who said this in an interview:

“You must keep your husband satisfied in the bedroom department, even if you’re absolutely exhausted. Otherwise he will go somewhere else.”

NEE NAW NEE NAWww

It’s the sound of the feminist police!

Her words have pissed of some people and I’ve seen a lot of comments online from other women accusing her of being anti-feminism.

Now people, it’s not like Davina said:

“99x bangs per week or your husband will stray”

I interpret her comment to mean be intimate with your partner and don’t let tiredness become an excuse, regardless of whether you’re male or female. The fact is we’re all tired. You’re probably tired 99.9% of time. Don’t let tiredness become the reason for intimacy stopping. I just think that makes sense.

It’s gotten to the point where as a woman you can’t say you do anything for your male partner without being accused of being anti women. No one is saying bow down to your man but you should nurture the relationship, just like you do with other, different relationships in your life.

Being a feminist is of course about wanting equal rights and opportunities. But it’s also about being supportive of other women. NOT calling one another out just because of the values they may decide to adopt in a relationship don’t meet your approval or are something you wouldn’t personally do.

Do you think her comment was out of order or taken out of context?
